Updating the Schertz YMCA – Commercial Case Study
The Schertz YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and incorporates core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. We were contacted by the Schertz YMCA to provide a bid to paint the interior of their facility as part of a large capital improvement remodel. We were asked to provide a bid to repaint the gym, the hallways, the workout studios, and the large exercise room. The facility manager wanted to use new colors for the interior walls that are more in-line with their corporate branding and logo. The colors selected were much bolder than the current color scheme. The current paint job had shown signs of wear.
Project Involvement:
The project involved painting and some light drywall repairs. After securing the contract to paint, Anthony did a job walk with the facility manager to take note of any final details. The YMCA was only going to be closed for one week, so we decided to put two commercial crews on the job to stay within their timeline. These crews have worked together in the past and we knew they could get the job done.
Challenges:
Throughout the project, our teams coordinated with staff and other contractors (flooring, safety pad installers in the gym, and new exercise equipment installers) to maintain a safe and efficient process to complete within the allotted timeline. The job was completed during daytime hours over 8 days. The total amount of paint was approximately 80 gallons. We completed the job within the allotted time and the gym was able to open back up on schedule.
Special Equipment:
The tall walls in the main exercise room as well as the gymnasium required the use of two scissor lifts.
