kid's bedroomDecorating your kids’ bedroom can be tricky. The best way to do it is to imagine you’re a kid again. Kids see the world differently than adults so it’s important to be decorating for them and not for you. Here are some of our tips to help make decorating your children’s rooms a little easier.

Have lots of floor space. Kids are always playing on the floor make sure to leave an open space for them to do so.

Focus on play. After all, it is a kid’s room! Add as many fun features as you can incorporate. Such as a mini swing or a mini walk climbing wall.

Add a chalkboard wall. You can buy chalkboard paint in pretty much any color. They will spend hours upon hours drawing on it with their friends. It will also keep them from drawing on the actual walls in your home.

Keep things at their height level. – They are more likely to stay organized if things are at their height. Things like storage benches coat racks and toy bins should all be easy for them to access.

If your child struggles with turning out the lights and night, find a way to make them look forward to it. Adding glow in the dark wall decals such as the moon or stars will help them look forward to going to bed and turning out the lights.

If you are working with a small space, opt for a loft bed. Underneath the bed you can create a play area or a mini table with chairs for them to draw.

Be smart when it comes to picking paint color. You want there to be enough color for your imaginative little one. But that bubble gum pink color they love now won’t translate well as they get older. If you don’t want to have to worry about re-painting later down the line, then consider what color will work well as they are growing up.

Add a desk. Whether they use this to draw or do school work it’s good to have a set place where they can learn and develop their mind.
