“JR’s Place” Diner in Lisle, IL
JR’s Place is a beloved mom-and-pop diner located at 4920 Lincoln Ave, Lisle, Illinois, adjacent to the Lisle Lanes bowling alley. Known for offering breakfast anytime, the restaurant has built a reputation for its home-cooked meals, welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices. With a strong following, many loyal customers can be found enjoying their meals, particularly on busy Saturday mornings. The diner was previously located near the train station in Downers Grove before moving to its current location a couple of years ago.
Since they moved to this new location, they needed a fresh paint-job to prepare it for business. JR wanted the interior to reflect his values and resonate with his clientele, many of whom are veterans and patriotic local regulars. The final result significantly brightened the space, creating a welcoming and patriotic ambiance that perfectly aligned with JR’s vision. The new colors complemented the diner’s charm and enhanced the experience for both longtime patrons and new visitors. JR continues to serve some of the best breakfasts in the Chicago area, and we’re happy to have played a small part in it.
CHALLENGES:
Grime and Grease Buildup: Years of dust, dirt, and grease had accumulated on the walls. As these were interior walls, traditional power-washing methods were not an option
Wall Damage: Over time, restaurant carts and regular wear had caused minor damage to the walls. Several repairs were needed before painting could begin.
Complex Color Scheme: Implementing a three-tone color scheme required careful planning and precision to ensure clean, sharp lines and consistent coverage.
Wall Decorations: The walls were adorned with numerous decorations, including family photos and memorabilia, which required special care to remove and later rehang.
General Move-In Issues: Since JR was new to this location, our estimate was a thorough process to make sure to identify any issues they might be unaware of.
