Cabinet Refurbishing and Painting

This is a historical family home in Salem, CT. It has been in the family since 1792, when it was built.

The house was in need of some major TLC, especially the cabinets. There was baked-in dirt and stains, sticky substances, peeling previous coatings, etc. A lot of cleaning was required on these cabinets prior to painting. Our CertaPro team spent a full day putting ‘elbow grease’ into the cabinets to ensure the surface was optimal for painting.

The end result was a set of cabinets that looked brand new, and a revitalized interior for this historic home.

CHALLENGES:

There was a lot of cleaning needed on the cabinets prior to painting.  We spent over a day with a few painters pouring elbow grease into them in order to have a good surface to paint.

CONDITIONS:

  • Dirt & Stains – Before applying the new paint, our CertaPro team had to skillfully clean all of the cabinets, which had various stains, sticky substances, and peeling paint from previous coats

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

  • Refurbishing – Before the cabinets could be painted, they first had to be cleaned and smoothed out so that the surface was optimal for a fresh coat
  • Painting – After the refurbishing, our CertaPro team got down to painting, applying a fresh coat of white paint to these newly cleaned cabinets

PROJECT TIMELINE – 1 week

Our CertaPro Painters® of Mystic-Glastonbury determined that the cabinets would need to be cleaned and refurbished prior to painting, due to stains, dirt, previous coatings of paint, etc.

Our CertaPro Painters® got to work on removing the cabinets one by one, covering all surfaces other than the trim to ensure a clean coat, and putting some elbow grease into the cabinets to ensure a smooth surface.

Our CertaPro team had to remove all of the cabinets, both to clean them individually and to ensure that the trim could be applied neatly.

To keep the look of the kitchen consistent, our CertaPro team also applied the same shade of paint to the trim of the doorway leading to the kitchen.
