Walden Woods Conservancy Project in Windsor, CT
CertaPro Painters® of Mystic-Glastonbury, CT was contacted in July 2020 to complete a yearly restoration project for Walden Woods Conservancy in Windsor. The conservancy has an array of communities, but CertaPro was specifically working on their duplexes and townhouses for this assignment.
The yearly restoration includes power washing buildings, clean and stain decks, and other assorted painting projects like fire hydrant paintings and door and window renovation. CertaPro Painters® is well equipped to handle projects of this nature to keep clients satisfied and, in this case, continuously using their services.
CHALLENGES:
Projects of this magnitude have their own unique set of challenges. Proper coordination within the team and communication with the community management was of utmost importance.
CHALLENGES:Another specific challenge was keeping the members of the community informed when their units would be operated on. Emails and door notices were used 48 hours in advance to make sure individuals were aware of their presence.
The cleaning of the decks and siding required some cooperation by the community. Before power washing the siding, windows needed to be closed and items such as wind chimes needed to be removed. For the decks, furniture and grills needed to be moved aside. Depending on the demands of each deck, some meticulous painting near the siding may take place requiring experience and a detailed approach as to not mark up the siding.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Prep – Along with the removal of items and closed windows for cleaning, plastic was hung to mitigate any accidental paint application that may occur.
- Clean and Paint – The siding and decks were thoroughly power washed. Fire hydrant and window and door trim painting were added to the necessary tasks. The decks receive a staining once every three years.
