The Appalachian Hotel – Commercial Painting Project

When the Appalachian Hotel needed to repaint 35,000 square feet of exterior siding along with decorative downspouts and gutters, they called the commercial painting professionals at CertaPro Painters^® of Mountainside. With a color scheme involving several different shades and a schedule that had to take into account weddings and hotel guests, the job was anything but predictable.

Located in Vernon, New Jersey, the hotel is right at the base of Vernon Peak. Being at the base of a ski resort the building gets its share of extreme weather. In particular, the rear of the hotel faces southwest and was subject to a high level of UV rays resulting in a great deal of paint fading.

The challenges of painting the hotel began with the exterior which is clad in a material called “Hardi Board” and required special caulking to fill the gaps between boards. In addition, accessing all of the exterior surfaces involved using both 45′ and 80′ boom lifts, and a 72′ atrium lift to reach it all.

Working with hotel property management, two crews were rotated in and out as the weather and hotel events dictated. The second crew was brought in to keep the project on schedule and with the staffing that CertaPro of Mountainside can bring to a project, there was no chance of missing key completion dates.

When the last brush stroke was applied the results were impressive, the hotel is now prepared to look its best for another decade and the property managers can return their focus back to weddings and events knowing their building looks great and is well protected from the elements.
