Project Overview

This painting project involved performing a broad range of our residential services. Some of the tasks we completed in this home were; opening up the archway between two rooms, installing new sheetrock, matching the existing finish to the new work, applying three coats of paint to all walls and most of the ceilings, and enameling the kitchen and laundry room cabinets. All in all, this project ended up being a great example of the high level of workmanship that our professional painters employ!

Preparing for the Project

Before we began, the walls and many portions of the ceiling were painted a very dark color. The home had an almost “castle-like” feel that gave it an antiquated appearance. The walls were heavily textured, and the ceilings were decorated with medieval designs. Overall, the feel of the home was heavy – it was time for a major update!

We began by conducting extensive preparatory work to protect any surfaces that would not be painted (floors, trim, windows, etc.) The key to any successful project is preparation, and given the size and scope of this project, preparing the space for painting was a multi-day affair.

How Our Painters Completed the Job

Our team overcame numerous challenges throughout this project. The biggest challenge was in the overall size of the home, the color of the original paint, and the height of the ceilings.

Challenge #1 – Overcoming the sheer size of the project. The home measured nearly 7,000 square feet and had dual laundry rooms, multiple entertaining areas, and a very large kitchen. Painting such a large home required that we put a special level of care into our work so that we could ensure that we’d never miss a spot. Pictured below is the foyer of the home – which ended up looking stunning when we were done!

Challenge #2 – Due to how dark the previous paint color was, it was necessary to apply three coats of paint to all of the walls and ceilings so that the new color could come through unaffected. Pictured here is an example of the difference between the original color and the new one!

Challenge #3 – Dealing with the high ceiling heights. There were several areas of the home where ceilings were 20 feet high. This required the use of scaffolding as well as creative ladder work to reach our workspace. While we were working at elevation, we also employed some creative drywall finishing techniques so that the new drywall work matched well with the existing textured finish on the other surfaces in the home.

After The Painting Was Complete

After a 16 day project, our painters had nearly completed their work. Now all that was left to do was clean up, and present the client with a much brighter, more modern look for their home! Here are just a few photos of the final product…
