Exterior House Painting
CertaPro Painters® of Minnetonka, MN completed this job at a customer’s home in Plymouth, which entailed sprucing up the exterior of the home with a sleek modern blue color.
Prep Work
The home was already in solid condition so only a modest amount of prep work was required to complete this job. We were tasked with applying a brand new coat of paint on their Hardie Board siding and detailing trim such as corbels and dentils, as well as window trim and door trim to bring it all together.
For the siding, our painters applied paint via sprayer and then immediately back-rolled the fresh coat. This technique allows us to work the paint into the wood surface without drips while ensuring complete coverage.
Challenges
In addition to revamped siding, the homeowner also requested that we stain the Hardie Board columns a charcoal-red color to match the overhead garage doors. However, upon inspection of the material, we determined that our standard sanding and staining procedure would not be an option. To replicate the look of the garage doors, we applied one coat of dark gray paint to the columns and then applied two coats of semi-transparent stain in a rich red color to replicate the doors.

In the end we managed to breathe new life into a sunburnt home. Originally, the siding was faded and dull from sun exposure and the owner wanted to refresh the design with bold new color choices. We delivered on their request with a beautiful new shade of blue wrapping the exterior of their home, vibrant white detailing throughout, and renovated columns to match the garage door. Our painters really turned the clock back on this home, giving it a new modern look and feel.
The homeowner was very pleased with the outcome. We got the job done in only two short days and were even able to provide a sizeable price reduction.
