Commercial Case Study
Westgate Church
In March of 2023, CertaPro Painters of Minnetonka painted interior sections of the Westgate Church in Plymouth, MN. Old sheetrock walls were repaired and finished, new floor trim was installed, and walls were painted with an updated color scheme to promote a more modern, welcoming atmosphere for members of the congregation.
Prep Work
Walls in the lower section of the building had a dated color scheme and they needed repairs after years of minor damage. On the upper level, Church leaders wanted to remove the old wainscoting, repair and replace the sheetrock underneath, install new floor trim, and give everything a fresh coat of paint.
No special techniques were required but great care had to be taken when installing the sheetrock to keep rooms clear of dust. Masking was used to keep surrounding floors and surfaces clean. Before any painting could begin, our team took down the wainscoting and proceeded with repairing and installing new sheetrock. Gaps and nail holes were filled and sanded in preparation.
Challenges
Sheetrock replacement and repair is always a dusty project – keeping the church clean during our process was the biggest challenge. Over the 6 days our team was working, church staff and visitors never ceased to use the halls, and there was a constant flow of traffic that had to be taken into account. Our team cleaned the work area multiple times each day so congregants and staff wouldn’t be bothered with excessive dust.
The Finished Product
In under a week, our expert painters completed the project. Block walls in the lower levels received a fresh coat of white paint, floor trim was installed in the upper levels and sheetrock was given a new hue. The result is a clean, crisp new environment that provides congregants and visitors with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
