Commercial Case Study
2800 Lyndale Ave
CertaPro Painters® of Minnetonka, MN traveled to Minneapolis in May 2021 to perform a comprehensive exterior repaint of a brick building located at 2800 Lyndale Ave, a process that also included extensive pressure washing and re-caulking.
Prep Work
The building’s brick surface was heavily caked in dirt and much of the original paint was peeling very badly. Additionally, caulking (and re-caulking) was required in many areas where gaps and cracks had formed across the surface.
The prep work kicked off with a full pressure washing of the building’s exterior. You can check out a short video of this below – you can clearly see the peeling remnants of the original coat being blasted away! After this was completed, all of the windows and awnings were wrapped in plastic to protect them from paint drippings later on.
Challenges
In addition to wrangling with the poor condition of the building’s exterior surface, our team also had to contend with the challenge of managing the heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic on the busy Lyndale Avenue. Part of this included obtaining a permit from the City of Minneapolis and creating a temporary pedestrian traffic lane so that people could safely walk past. Additionally, we had to make sure that neighboring businesses were aware of the project taking place and would not have their entrances blocked by the work that we were performing.
The Finished Product
When all was said and done, the chipping, faded original coat of the building was gone without a trace, and in its place was a double-coating of Sherwin-Williams Loxon XP – a paint specially formulated for use on masonry surfaces to create a waterproof coating. Between this and the extensive caulking work that was performed, 2800 Lyndale Avenue has been given a fresh look that will not only create a welcoming appearance for customers of its tenant businesses but protect the exterior from the elements for years to come!
