What Colors Are the Best Ones for Selling Your Home

Posted on May 21, 2020

Your home is a piece of you and thus shows your style. When trying to sell your house, you’ll want your potential buyer to feel the warmth of your house while still envisioning their own touches in it. What colors are the best ones for selling your home? Depends on the room, let’s go through it now.

It used to be recommended that you paint everything white or off-white prior to a home being placed on the market. You want your home to be inviting and warm, without overtly yours.

Zillow has done research to find out what colors not only land sales but also gain value in your final price. We offer professional house painting services to the greater Milwaukee area if you need assistance with your painting project. Contact us for a free estimate.

Dark Front Door

Dark front doors have proven in sales to raise the offered value of your home by up to $6,000. Colors like black, navy, peppercorn and cobalt all created a timeless front entryway that led to more offers on the table. Pair the color with some light flowers in planters or a gold or brass lighting fixture for maximum appeal.

Grey Blue Kitchens

In the same study, Zillow found that kitchens incorporated with soft blues or grays sold for nearly $2,000 more than other colors. Gray or blue is easily added in a backsplash, cabinet color or walls around natural cabinets.

Warm Browns in Living Areas

Oatmeal, beige, taupe and other colors in the light brown family lead the race for living space colors. The report from Zillow showed homes with living and great rooms in this color family got $1,900 more than those of other colors.

Sleeping in Cerulean

Blue promotes relaxation and has a calming effect. It’s no wonder this is the go-to color for paint in bedroom. Blues like Cerulean or Cadet got homes nearly $1,800 more at the closing table.

Bathe in Baby Blue

You want your bathroom to be clean and fresh without the difficulty of keeping white clean. Pale blue is the answer. Add some baby blue paint and your home could net $5,000 more than bathrooms in any other color.
