The homeowners faced severe issues, including rotted soffits and trim that had permitted wild animals to enter their home. This five-day project required expert carpentry and specialized techniques to repair the damage and rejuvenate the home’s exterior.
Initial Condition
The house had not been repainted in years, leading to a state of significant disrepair. The soffits, in particular, were badly rotted and had been compromised by wild animals. The extensive damage left the homeowners doubtful about the feasibility of repairs. The overall exterior was weathered, with visible dirt and failing coatings.
Project Details
The restoration included extensive carpentry work to repair the damaged soffits and trim. We employed durable PVC material and the “tape and float” method to ensure seamless repairs. This approach was vital for patching large holes created by the animals. Additionally, we removed the lattice from the front of the house to improve its appearance. To prepare the surface for painting, we power washed the entire house to eliminate all dirt and failing coatings.
Challenges and Solutions
The primary challenge was addressing the rotted areas where wild animals had gained entry. These sections required meticulous repair work using specialized materials and techniques. The application of PVC and “tape and float” patchwork was crucial for achieving a durable and visually pleasing result.
