Vince, along with another painting business owner, weighed in on their tips and solutions for repainting over water stains, which ranged from thoroughly inspecting the drywall for traces of leakage, scraping any loose or cracking paint, to using a primer that effectively blocks potential bleed-through, and more. “In some cases, you’ll need more than one coat of paint to properly cover the water stain. And depending on the age of the surrounding paint, it may be best to repaint the entire area so that you don’t have a single patch of new paint surrounded by old, faded paint.”
