Commercial Flooring Case Study

Background: Increase the compressive and tensile strength of the west rotary, increasing it to 6400 psi compressive strength and 6600 psi tensile strength. Mended cracks in the concrete flooring and applied two coats urethane cement durable sl. Removed previous work, concrete cracked prematurely. Hired to fix floor with only 2 hours of downtime a day without impacting daily work. 

Description of Project: CertaPro was hired for two reasons: one was to increase the compressive and tensile strength of the west rotary, increasing its compressive strength to 6400 psi and tensile strength to 6600 psi. The second reason was that the original contractor installed the concrete poorly, resulting in premature cracking. Our team removed the previous work and laid Duraflex Sl urethane cement.

Unique Challenges:

• Time Frame: As to not impact the production time of the farm our team only had two hours a day to work on the project. 

• The Rotary: The small space available within the rotary was naturally an issue that our team had to circumnavigate. 

• Cow “Waste”: Due to the nature of the farm, the worksite was always surrounded by cows. Being unfamiliar with modern plumbing, these animals utilized the floor as their restroom. To combat this, holes had to be drilled and plastic tarps installed to protect the quality of the urethane. 

Results: Certapro was able to successfully complete the project on time and on budget, overcoming the aforementioned challenges due to the expertise, ingenuity, and flexibility of our team. The facility’s production volume was not impacted by our work, and no cows were harmed in the making of this case study.
