Pet Supplies Plus – Commercial Exterior Painting Project in Seymour, IN

Pet Supplies Plus, in Seymour, Indiana, was seeking painting and repair professionals to help them address some caulking issues they were having. This included things like making repairs to areas where water or light was getting into the building, giving the building a new look with a repaint, and implementing EIFS repairs on a portion of the building. The main purpose for them was to have a trusted partner help them keep their building well maintained. The project posed some unique challenges, including the removal of old expansion joints and the installation of new expansion joints on the building’s concrete siding and working around active shipment bays.

CHALLENGES:

The main challenge our team faced while completing this project was that all the existing expansion joints needed to be removed and replaced with new ones. This was especially ‌challenging because of the building’s concrete exterior and our team’s need to be careful during removal and installation.

Throughout the duration of the project, our team also needed to remain highly coordinated because we were working around active shipping and receiving bays. This was critical because we wanted to make sure that there were no major disruptions to Pet Supplies Plus and their daily operations. So, our team made sure to be intentional about our communications with them at each project stage and to make adjustments as needed.

CONDITIONS:

  • The existing building was dull and dirty, and needed attention.Previous paint and expansion joints were aged and showing signs of failing.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

  • Plan: Working with Pet Supplies Plus to understand their unique needs and how we could best complete their project without disrupting their daily operations.
Repair: Removing existing expansion joints and implementing new ones to replace them, adding new caulking to ensure all areas of the building were sealed, and implementing EIFS repairs where necessary.
Paint: Applying new paint and colors to give the building a refreshed look and bring it back to life. Specifically, our team applied PPG Pitt-Tech Plus to hydrants, bollards, stairs, railings, man doors and dock levelers, and PPG SunProof to the office and warehouse structures.

PROJECT TIMELINE

Our team split this project into two stages. We began in the fall with the removal and installation of the expansion joints and some miscellaneous painting of railings. Then, once spring came, we began the main painting phases and applied paint to the entire building.

BENEFITS

The attention to detail our team brought allowed for a successful project that gave the facility a complete color change and a new look. All the painting and repairs we implemented made Pet Supplies Plus proud to see their space brought back to life. Our entire team was thrilled to see how happy they were with the outcome.
