Rescuing a Renovation: Transforming a Westfield Home with Expert Craftsmanship
This residential renovation project took place in Westfield, IN, in October 2024 and spanned approximately a month and a half. The homeowners had initially hired another contractor who failed to complete the job to their satisfaction, leading to their dismissal.
When CertaPro Painters® of Indianapolis took over, the framing, mechanicals, and drywall had been started but required significant corrections due to subpar workmanship. While the electrical and plumbing issues were left to other professionals, CertaPro completed the HVAC system by connecting the ductwork and addressed various framing problems, including constructing the island wall, support post chase, bathroom closet, and properly reframing doors.
Despite the challenges of taking over from a previous contractor and addressing hidden issues, the professionals at CertaPro Painters® of Indianapolis successfully completed the project with high-quality craftsmanship, transforming the home into a polished and fully functional space.
Scope of the Project:
The drywall work required extensive rework, as previous work was poorly done. The team sanded and prepped the walls, applied additional skim coats for a smooth finish, and used a Festool HEPA Vac and sander to minimize dust. Ceiling areas that needed retexturing or finishing were also addressed. Once the drywall was in good condition, the trim carpenter installed kitchen cabinets, a bathroom vanity, interior doors, and all necessary trim. A custom window sill was also crafted for the bedroom.
Following cabinet installation, the team laid 1,800 square feet of luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring, provided by the homeowner. Before the final coats of paint, finishing touches such as door hardware, shower glass, cabinet hardware, shoe mold, and cabinet scribe were installed.
Challenges and Solutions:
The staircase presented a unique challenge, as it needed to be custom-wrapped with LVP and bullnose strips. Since the stairs were prefabricated and installed as a whole during the original construction, the team had to carefully cut off the existing bullnose and use finish nails and construction adhesive to secure the new flooring. Despite the challenges of taking over from a previous contractor and addressing hidden issues, CertaPro Painters® of Indianapolis successfully completed the project with high-quality craftsmanship, transforming the home into a polished and fully functional space.
