FiveStar Senior Living – Commercial Painting Project in Indianapolis
FiveStar Senior Living, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was seeking painting and repair professionals to help them update the look of their building’s interior. This included things like making repairs to walls, ceilings, door frames, railings, and baseboards and repainting the space. The main purpose for them was to have a trusted partner help them keep their building well maintained and looking polished. The project posed some unique challenges, including removing wallpaper and not knowing the condition of the drywall behind it, as well as making sure the existing surface was smooth after the wallpaper was completely removed.

CHALLENGES:
CHALLENGES:The main challenge our team faced while completing this project was that there was an extensive amount of wallpaper that needed to be removed from the interior walls. Upon removing the wallpaper, there was no real understanding of what condition the drywall would be in because the wallpaper had been there for so long. This meant our team needed to be extra aware of the wall conditions as we removed the wallpaper and prepared the interior walls for painting.
Our team skim-coated the walls to ensure their surface was smooth prior to applying paint. This process takes lots of skill and expertise to do the right way.
CONDITIONS:
- Working in common areas or hallways of a senior living facility required our team to keep the job-site clean at all times.Sanding was needed in many steps of this project to ensure surfaces were smooth prior to painting, we used a high-quality HEPA vacuum to drastically minimize the dust that became airborne.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Plan: Working with FiveStar Senior Living to understand their unique needs and how we could best complete their project without disrupting their residents.
Repair: Making repairs to drywall after wallpaper was removed and implementing other minimal repairs as needed.
Paint: Applying new paint to give the interior living space a refreshed look. Specifically, our team applied PPG products to the walls, ceilings, and trim.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The project took our commercial and business services team about 8 weeks to complete, from start to finish.
BENEFITS
The attention to detail our team brought allowed for a successful project with minimal resident disruptions. We were able to give the senior living community a completely new interior look. All the painting and repairs we implemented made FiveStar Senior Living proud to see their space brought back to life. Our entire team was thrilled to see how happy they were with the outcome.
