Paint Colours to Help You Relax
Posted on April 22, 2021
There is no doubt that the colours of your home have a drastic effect on your mood. Whether this effect is positive or negative, however, is up to you and your colour choice. If you’re looking to redo the interior of your commercial or residential property, you may want to consider soft, relaxing colours that help reduce stress.
It doesn’t take much to make someone stressed out. A hard day at work, frustrating projects, and draining social events are enough to make anyone need a nap. With the events of the past year alone, it’s no wonder stress levels are so high. It is time to bring more relaxation and calmness into your life. That’s why our experts compiled a list of our favorite, most relaxing colours for interiors. Take a few deep breaths, get comfortable, and listen to what our experts have to stay.
Colours of the Sky
Blue is the first colour that typically comes to mind when we think about relaxation––and for good reason! A soft blue can help us sleep better and calm a busy mind. This is why we look to the sky for a bit of daydreaming or find comfort when looking out at open waters. However, nearly all the colours you see in the sky can have the same effect.
The right shades of violet, pink, white, and even yellow can create the perfect relaxing environment. This variety gives you more options when painting the entire interior of your home. No one wants their entire house to be blue. When choosing a sky colour, though, remember to choose lighter colours with softer hues. If a colour is too vibrant, it will have the opposite effect and end up energizing you.
Colours of the Nature
Just like colours from above have calming effects, so do colours in the ground. Green, brown, and greys are just as good at reducing stress and inducing relaxation as a classic blue. These colours are effective because of what they make us think of while we are surrounded by them: nature. Time in nature (or nature colours) has been proven to improve happiness and even boost reading comprehension.
Unlike sky colours, you don’t necessarily have to go pastel to get a quiet look. A dark green or brown makes for great accent colours in any room and can make the space feel more sophisticated. To make sure you like the darker colour, paint a swatch on the wall you are wanting to paint and let it sit for at least 24 hours. This way, you can observe how the light hits the paint at all hours of the day.
Colours that You Like
There is no need to worry if you’re not into gathering inspiration from nature. At the end of the day, the paint colour that will be the most soothing will be the one you like. Look at every possibility when you are searching for that colour that makes the tension release from your shoulders. Also, don’t be afraid to make mixtures to create the perfect space for you. It’s your space; create it how you want to!
