What type of paint do you use?

Sherwin Williams – we’ll use other brands Ben Moore, Behr, and PPG if requested by the customer

Do you have eco-friendly paint options?

Yes. Harmony Paint from SW comes in any color and is a zero VOC paint.

Do you use any materials aside from paint?

Yes Spackle, filler, additives to paint eg. Mold inhibitor

Color

What colors do you suggest for the exterior?

Exteriors should not have more than 3 colors. Woodwork, shutters, and trim should be painted with higher gloss paint.

Do you have color consultations?

Yes A local SW Color Consultant is available and she is excellent!

Are there certain color palettes you suggest for the interior?

Greys and lighter colors are especially popular right now

Prep and After

Is there anything the homeowner should do to prep for your crew to arrive?

CertaPro will move all the furniture in most instances. Ideally, customers should allow clear access to work areas, empty cabinets, and closets, remove all paintings, pictures, wall decorations, blinds, and window coverings, and small and fragile objects.

What is your clean-up process?

Daily: Ladders are taken down and stored in a designated area along with all other tools and supplies. All debris will be swept and removed from the property or deposited in the appropriate trash receptacle according to the customer’s preference. Upon Completion: All tools, supplies & equipment will be removed from the property.

Is there anything unique about the area you work in, i.e., all of the homes are a particular style?

We are familiar with the prep effort to properly repaint older homes with multiple layers of old paint.

Is weather a factor in your area when it comes to wear and tear on exterior painting or the painting process in general? What specific weather conditions cause this?

UV exposure and moisture affect the wear and tear on painting in this area more so than the weather. Facades with a South orientation are most exposed to the sun and fading is commonplace. These sides are treated with more coats etc.

We have painted disabled veterans forever homes at no cost to the vet.

Do you participate in any 5ks or other community events?

Mushroom Festival in Kennet Sq., Rotary 5K run in Suburban Square

Do you offer any specials or discounts for groups like veterans, seniors, etc.?

5% discounts are offered for empty home interiors, previous customers.

How much paint do you need to paint a home?

The typical spread rate is 200 sq ft./gal.

When is the best time to paint?

Exteriors are best done on dry, mild days. Below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, extreme heat or moisture are not good for exterior painting.

How often should people paint their homes?

Every 10 years

How long does it take to paint a home?

This is based on metrics that are calculated by the software. For example, a professional painter can paint 150 sq ft and an hour. Each room typically has 2 coats etc. etc.

As many as the customer requires. Paint color does not affect pricing.
