Choosing a paint color for a room or your entire home can be overwhelming. After all, you are setting the tone in your home for years to come. You should put a lot of thought into what color you and your family will want to see every single day. 1. Don’t Pick the Color First
Most people tend to want to choose the paint color first and then begin looking for furniture and décor. However, it should be the other way around. You will realize it is a lot easier to choose a paint color after you already chose the furniture and décor.
2. Have an Idea Board
You will want to have inspiration and ideas on what you want your final product to look like. Pinterest is a great place to gather ideas and figure out what looks you do and do not like. Save the ones you do like and then narrow it down from there.
Aside from Pinterest, you can also find inspiration in day to day things. If you like the color, texture, or pattern of essentially any item think about how that can transfer into your home.
3. Neutrals or Colors
This choice in entirely up to you and everyone has their own styles so you will have to choose which best suits you. Color can be bold and fun, but you have to keep in mind this is where all of the attention will go. If you keep the walls neutral this allows the attention to go towards bold décor pieces.
4. Test the Paint First
But testers of the colors and shades you like and then paint them onto small sections of your wall. A lot of the time paint looks different in the store than how it will actually look to you in your home. Leave it on for a few days so you can really get a feel for how it will look in different lights.
