Challenges
Besides the inclement weather during the project, a major challenge were delivery trucks at the ports on all sides of the building. Most of these trucks would leave between 8am and 9am, and return between 11am and 1 pm.
CONDITIONS
We painted the exterior of a large (150,000 sqf) warehouse, specifically 62,000 sqf of concrete composition siding. While the existing coating was still sound, numerous hairline cracks caused wide-spread efflorescence staining / discoloration.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
- Preparation – The siding was power washed, using Great Lakes Extra Muscle Pre-Paint Cleaner to remove dirt, lose paint and efflorescence stains.
The siding was coated with one coat of Sherwin Williams Loxon XP Masonry Coating (620 gallons were used). This coating is highly alcali and efflorescence resistant.12″” dock numbers had to be repainted above each individual loading dock. - Painting – The work was completed by a 3-man crew, using a 45 ft boom lift, as well as high end power washing and spraying equipment.
PROJECT TIMELINE – October 2018. 4 weeks, due to inclement weather and the presence of delivery trucks.
- Preparation – The siding was power washed, using Great Lakes Extra Muscle Pre-Paint Cleaner to remove dirt, lose paint and efflorescence stains.
