Interior Repaint with Cabinet Painting in Loveland, Colorado
a Case Study by CertaPro Painters® of Fort Collins
Custom Interior Painting Project with Trim and Cabinet Updates
In December 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Fort Collins completed a comprehensive interior painting project for a home in Loveland, Colorado. Located in Larimer County along the US-34 corridor between Fort Collins and Estes Park, the home featured detailed architectural elements and an open-concept main floor with multiple connected living spaces.
The project focused on refreshing walls, ceilings, trim, and kitchen cabinetry throughout the main level. With extensive millwork, newly installed hardwood floors, and a mix of living, dining, and kitchen spaces, the project required careful planning and precision to deliver a clean, cohesive finish.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The project included full interior painting of walls, ceilings, and trim across the main floor, along with cabinet painting in the kitchen. Surface preparation included patching nail holes, sanding, recaulking trim seams, and preparing previously finished cabinet surfaces for repainting.
Walls were coated using Sherwin-Williams Cashmere for a smooth, high-end finish, while trim and cabinetry were finished with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Trim Enamel for durability and resistance to wear. Kitchen cabinets were primed using Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer to ensure proper adhesion before applying finish coats.
The result was a cohesive, updated interior that enhanced both the architectural detail and overall flow of the home.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
One of the primary challenges of the project was the extensive architectural millwork throughout the home. Crown molding, decorative columns, arch molding, and built-in features required precise cutting-in, careful caulking, and consistent coverage to achieve a polished final result.
Protecting the newly installed hardwood floors was another critical factor. The team used specialized tape and full floor coverings to prevent any paint contact, ensuring the flooring remained in perfect condition throughout the project.
Cabinet painting required a different process than standard wall painting. Proper preparation, priming, and application of a durable topcoat were essential to ensure long-term performance in a high-use kitchen environment.
Additional care was needed in the den, where a piano could not be moved. The crew carefully worked around the protected piece, maintaining a clean and safe workspace while achieving full coverage in the surrounding areas.
Before the Updates Began
Prior to painting, the home’s main level showed signs of normal wear and was ready for a full refresh. Nail holes from removed artwork required patching, and trim seams throughout the home had cracked caulking that needed to be repaired before painting could begin.
The den required additional attention, as baseboards had been removed in preparation for new flooring installation. The kitchen cabinets, which had an existing factory finish, needed a full repaint using a bonding primer system to ensure proper adhesion.
New hardwood floors had recently been installed across the main level, making protection a critical component of the project. Additionally, a piano in the den could not be moved, requiring careful masking and protection during the painting process.
