Our painting projects have gone digital. There are dozens of apps available on the Play Store and iTunes to take your swatches to a techie place. You can test potential colors on your actual room with just a snapshot and an app. The days of paint chips are long gone.

Seeing your full wall in a color against your furniture and flooring can make a huge difference in how you feel about it. Glidden ColorAPP
Glidden Color App is a great couch to wall tool that allows you to use your Android or iOS phone to test colors, from mild to wild. The images uploaded retain shadows and lighting. You’ll have the ability to share your creations via social media or email. A download feature is available however it only downloads the image you’ve created. There is no color or finish information included. While the app is available in a desktop version, you will not be able to integrate the phone version with the computer.
Benjamin Moore Personal Color Viewer
If you are more comfortable with a desktop and keyboard, try this app. You will be able to upload an image of your choice and get a real looking outcome with shadows and lighting. Many users say the program is really lacking in functionality and while it contains editing options, they are clunky and difficult to use. You will be required to create a log in to save any progress. Even so, you can only change one color at a time. So, for example, you cannot change your wall color and the trim at the same time.
Olympic Paint Visualizer
This is another computer-based program to try out Olympic brand paints. You will not have to make a login, and you’ll have quite a few paint abilities in this app. Keep your work with their download, share and email options of your images. More importantly, pin those images to your Pinterest board to share with the world, including full color information. Reviewers said the AI within the program handled breaks in the walls, like windows and lamps decently. Downloads did show a lot of wiggly lines.
Paint Tester
Paint tester is for the user that is not loyal to any particular brand. It’s available on iOS and Android driven phones. Since there is no paint brand affiliated with this app, you’ll literally have an endless list of options to choose from. Log ins are completely optional and you will have the ability to update colors, lights colors and more with the touch of a finger. When you take your picture, it’s recommended that you use bright lighting. Dark rooms tend to have more problems negotiating the walls versus the furniture.
Home Depot Project Color
This app touts the best use of light. Images taken from your phone, Android or iOS, to make digital recreations of your rooms. After you choose the colors you like, you can manipulate the lighting to mimic different times of day and light sources. When you save your images, you’ll get full information including color names, finishes and numbers. Images can also be exported to several social media options. If you register with an email address, you’ll have a fully built out profile through Home Depot, where you can easily order the colors for pick up.
