This is a large multi-tenant commercial office building in the heart of Fort Collins, the iconic Coloradoan building on Riverside Ave. Our painters refreshed the metal exterior and added some fun pops of color. About the Project
Condition of Building:
The building owner wanted all of the exterior metal surfaces to be recoated and also wanted to bring some new life to the building by introducing some accent color areas. The project included multi-story columns, large metal suspended awning structures, and lots of metal railing. There was peeling and flaking paint in multiple areas that was leading to significant rust and corrosion in places, and the owner wanted to stop it from spreading to more substrates/areas. We completed extensive preparation including grinding rust spots, wire brushing, power washing, and hand scraping. We fully primed any degraded areas with a premium rust-inhibiting primer, and followed by applying an industrial grade urethane coating from Sherwin Williams to all included surfaces for a highly durable product system.
Project Involvement:
Pressure washing, grinding rusted metal surfaces, wire brush and hand scraping loose and flaking paint, priming bare/rusted metal, and painting. Extensive masking was required to protect excluded surfaces such as windows, signage, and brick.
Special Challenges:
We had to use two different types of lifts to access the higher elevation surfaces while fitting the equipment in some tighter pathways. We also had to coordinate a communication program to block of only select parking spaces at a time to be able to locate the boom lift in specific areas required for safe production.
