New Painting Ideas for Your Home Office
Posted on February 8, 2020
Home offices are an oxymoron unto themselves. Setting aside a room of work in your place of rest just seems wrong. So creating a home office needs to be based on productivity. The strange juxtaposition makes a renovation quite difficult. We’ve scoured the internet to help you plan your room for work. Here are new painting ideas for your home office.
Accent
Go big on impact with little painting. An accent wall can set the tone for your entire office. Go bold with a pattern or color that matches your style. This creates a focal point in the room, somewhere to stare off and ponder your next work moves.
A plain accent wall will create a subtle change. If you’re looking for more impact, try a decal of a map or statement that gives you inspiration for the day. This gives the room more personality and hopefully more motivation for work.
Ombre
Ombre has taken over. It’s in clothes, nails, hair and now walls. This technique is a stylish step up on the traditional accent wall. Paint the ombre color in a horizontal line with the lighter hues toward top and dark toward bottom. This will also give you a faux vaulted ceiling in the room by drawing the eyes upward. Get creative with the colors you choose, as well as the direction of the ombre.
Color Washing
Color washing is a technique that blends two colors together in a printed sort of effect. Typically the base color is painted on in a neutral shade. The wash should be at least two to four shades from the main color on the color wheel. Our professionals suggest a vivid or primary color on the wall with a muted or darker color over it. This will give you a vintage and texture custom look in your room.
Writable Paint
Are you known for your rainbow of sticky notes on your desk? Cut down the paper waste by creating a place for all of those notes. Whiteboard or chalkboard paints are available in a variety of colors. Apply this to a convenient wall so you have a place to write your notes. Some manufacturers even offer different colors on their chalkboard paint. Shop your local big box store for ideas and then get rid of those sticky notes!
