Restoring the Entrance & Bench of a Dental Office

Project: A dental office in Flower Mound, TX, required restoration work on their front door and bench, which had become severely weathered. The property manager, located out-of-state, hired our team to restore these items close to their original condition. Initially, we were tasked with staining the wood. However, due to significant sun damage and graying, we recommended painting the door and bench instead. The property manager agreed, and we proceeded with the project, ensuring to maintain the aesthetic appeal while providing a more durable finish.

Process: The project began with a detailed assessment of the condition of the wood. Recognizing that the weathering was too extensive for a transparent stain to be effective, we proposed priming and painting as a better solution.

To avoid disrupting the dental office’s operations, we scheduled the work over a weekend. Our team arrived on-site and began by power washing the door and bench to remove any dirt and debris. After allowing the items to dry, we masked off the surrounding areas to protect them from paint splatters. We placed the bench on a tarp to safeguard the flooring.

The next steps involved caulking the door panels and sanding the surfaces lightly to ensure a smooth finish. We then applied a universal primer to both the door and bench, followed by two coats of paint.

Given the property’s out-of-state management, our team maintained communication by calling in at the start and completion of the work. A manager from the dental office was present to sign off on the job, ensuring everything met the expected standards.

Result: The project concluded successfully with the front door and bench restored to a fresh, vibrant appearance. The application of primer and paint not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also provided a more durable and weather-resistant finish compared to staining. The dental office and property manager were satisfied with the results!
