What Does Interior House Painting Cost?
A room-by-room breakdown of our pricing:
Budgeting for a painting project starts with knowing what to expect — so we put together this room-by-room guide to give you a realistic picture. Keep in mind that the figures here represent typical averages, and your final cost may vary depending on a number of factors specific to your home.
In general, these things will affect the cost of the project:
1. The number of surfaces we’ll be painting will affect the price. For example, will we be painting your trim? Walls? Doors? Baseboard and crown molding?
2. The conditions of the surfaces will affect the price. Our standard prep includes covering areas, caulking, minor holes and damage. Anything beyond standard prep such as holes larger than a quarter, wood/sheetrock replacement, degreasing/cleaning, gypsum board tape replacement will affect the cost.
3. The height and accessibility of your surfaces will also factor into the price. Rooms with vaulted ceilings, stairwells, or other hard-to-reach areas require additional time, equipment, and labor to work safely and achieve a quality finish
4. Color change is one of the key factors that influences how many coats your project will require. When the new color closely matches what’s already on the wall, our default two coats is generally sufficient. A more drastic shift, such as black to white may call for three or even four coats to ensure proper coverage and a flawless result.
5. One thing that won’t affect your price is our in-home designer who helps you choose colors that work with your current furnishings. This is a free service once you get an estimate.
These are just some of the factors that contribute to the price of painting the interior of your home. Below you will find some examples of some common-sized rooms. All prices are based on a solid mid-grade paint from recognized paint companies: 2 coats of paint, for all walls, doors, and trim surfaces, and ceilings are based on 1 coat of paint. The prices below are based on painting the walls and then adding other surfaces. Final quote may vary depending on unforeseen conditions during estimate.
