Mimico Trim Painting
A couple recently contacted CertaPro Painters of Etobicoke with a time-sensitive Mimico trim painting project. They had recently installed a new black garage door and enclosed front entryway, which made the faded brown aluminum fascia, eavestroughs, downspouts, and side doors, as well as the white soffits, window frames, and new rear doors and windows, stand out like sore thumbs. Their goal was to bring everything together by having all of the original trim elements painted in a matching colour to the new.
As they had also just initiated a rear deck replacement and would be installing a glass canopy, there was a narrow window for the painters to complete the work at the rear of the home before this was installed, which would severely limit access to the upper level.
CertaPro worked first with the owners to visually match the colour to the new trim using a fan deck, then tracked the short-term weather outlook to successfully complete the project over a weekend, after rescheduling three times due to a shifting forecast. The project involved two painters utilizing a 32’ ladder to access the uppermost elements.
The trim was first power washed, and windows and doors hand-washed, to remove any contaminants prior to painting. A coat of Extreme Bond primer was then applied to the new windows and doors, to ensure proper paint adhesion on these particularly slick surfaces. All areas then received two coats of A-100 exterior latex paint in SW 6990 Caviar with a satin sheen.
Whereas the homeowners were previously dissatisfied with the mismatched appearance of their home’s details, they are fully satisfied with the harmonious end result as well as the experience: “Alex and Rafael were super nice, and we’re pleased with the final outcome.’
