Case Study: Tudor Home Exterior Restoration & Wood Deck Refinishing in West Bend, WI

Project Scope

The project scope focused on complete exterior restoration, carpentry repairs, and protective coating applications across all synthetic stucco walls, cedar trim elements, and multiple large-scale wood decks.

Surface Assessment & Substrate Preparation

Preparation began with comprehensive damage assessments and structural remediation. Compromised and rotted synthetic stucco sections were repaired and blended into the existing wall texture to restore weather resistance. Rotted cedar boards were removed and replaced with new, matching cedar lumber.

Stucco & Trim Coating Application

Crews applied high-durability, weather-resistant primers and premium exterior coatings formulated specifically for synthetic stucco and wood substrates to ensure long-term adhesion and moisture resistance.

Deck Staining & Preservation

All substantial deck surfaces were thoroughly cleaned, prepped, and coated with protective wood stain to guard against heavy foot traffic, moisture intrusion, and UV degradation.

Challenges & Solutions

Precision French-Cut Architectural Trim

A major technical challenge involved the intricate Tudor trim work. The timber layout required specialized French cuts to preserve the precise dimensional depth and visual alignment authentic to classic Tudor design. Our carpenters carefully measured, shaped, and fitted every replacement board to maintain architectural accuracy.

Synthetic Stucco Remediation

Repairing the rotted synthetic stucco presented another significant obstacle, as improper moisture management in synthetic systems can lead to deep-seated building envelope failure. Our team carefully excavated damaged zones, restored the water-resistive barriers, and matched the surrounding wall texture seamlessly before applying topcoats.

Integrated Restoration Workflow

By integrating skilled carpentry repairs directly with exterior painting and deck staining, our crew restored the home’s historic charm while ensuring durable, long-term exterior defense.

Special Equipment Used

To navigate multi-story rooflines, steep gables, and expansive deck perimeters safely, the crew utilized multi-position extension ladders, specialized staging, and precision carpentry cutting tools for custom on-site timber fitting.
