How to Decorate a Small Home
Posted on October 4, 2020
Decorating a small home is just as fun as decorating a larger one. The main goal is keeping it from looking cluttered, dark and closed off. There are so many easy ways you can ensure your small home looks open, airy and spacious. Keep reading for tips on how to decorate a small home.
Keep the natural light coming in. Don’t block off the windows with heavy curtains. The natural light will keep your home looking airy and spacious. Even if the windows aren’t large, letting the natural light in will still help.
Make a statement. You can still make a statement in a small space. Adding in a bold light fixture or adds contrast and intrigue.
Choosing a large rug will make the room feel bigger. A big rug with a bold pattern won’t break up the room like a smaller one would. It always provides you with a good staple piece for the room.
Aim for a cozy style. The benefit of small spaces is that they are already naturally cozier than a larger space would be. Make the décor and lighting in the room inviting and intimate as well.
Chose a dark paint shade for the wall. Dark walls create a sophisticated look in a small space. Painting your ceilings, the same color as the walls will make the room look even cozier.
Make it into a multipurpose room. Since you are working with a smaller space, why not make it multifunctional?
Paint the walls white. Having the walls and floors will brighten up space and make the room feel less cluttered.
Opt for lower furniture. This creates the visual of higher ceilings and will make the room appear larger overall.
Use two small tables for a coffee table. Rather than adding a large chunky piece into the room keep it simple.
