Woodlands Creek Senior Living Commercial Painting Project

Woodlands Creek, located in Clive, Iowa, is a large senior living facility with three different sectors, Independent Living, Memory Care and Assisted Living, each sector in a separate building. When the facilities Executive Director first touched base with us in the summer of 2018 they were in need of a fresh coat of paint on the exterior of their Memory Care building. We put a fresh coat of paint on all the siding and trim to give it an updated look.

The following summer they asked us bid out another project, this time an interior at their independent living facility. They were looking to convert their current peach and yellow color scheme in the common areas to more of a modern, updated look. This 3 story building contains around 100 apartments throughout the three floors, a couple different lounge areas, two stairwells, and a wing that connects to a very large cafeteria. The cafeteria has 30 foot tall ceilings with beautiful wooden beams as well has a few dozens decorative sound barriers hanging just a few inches off the ceiling. The large open space also has a bar area, reception area and another hallway with a handful of staff offices.

The project involved converting all the yellow and peach walls in every common area to Sherwin-Williams Anew Grey as well as putting a fresh coat of white trim paint on all baseboards, crown molding, doors, door frames and window frames. The most challenging part of the project was accessing the 30 ft tall ceilings in the cafeteria, especially having to paint under the decorative sound barriers that only hung several inches from the drywall. This was also a very heavily trafficked area so in order to keep out of the way of the residents we decided it was best to do this project between the hours of 7pm and 5am. We used a scissor lift to safely reach the ceiling, but this was still very tedious work. With only being able to get about 350 sq. ft. completed on the ceiling per night it took several, several nights to finish just the ceiling itself.

In the end the staff and residents couldn’t believe how a new paint color could brighten and modernize the space so much. Everyone was extremely happy with the finished project and our hardworking crews received many, many compliments. We are looking forward to working with Woodlands Creek again soon.
