CertaPro Painters® of Des Moines, IA, was contacted in September by a homeowner in Johnston, IA, to recoat their garage floor with a fresh new upgrade.
This job required a few prepping tasks for the 585 sq ft floor before the actual coating, such as washing, diamond plate grinding to remove oil, grease, and old tire residue, using a HEPA vacuum to clean the surfaces, and repairing cracks along the way to ensure a smooth, durable surface before coating, as this helps the new coating to adhere and bond nicely with the concrete. From there, we applied an Elladur 5-Polyaspartic system, starting with a base coat, followed by decorative flakes in the color Eclipse, and finishing with a clear, gloss topcoat for added protection and shine.
In addition to the flooring, we also added the same coating finish to the contour top of the work cabinet/bench.
We were able to complete the garage floor recoating in 2 days, giving the homeowners a fresh, new garage floor they can enjoy, along with our 20-year garage floor warranty.
