Frequently Asked Questions
CertaPro Painters® of South Denver
Here you will find Frequently Asked Questions and Our Answers
Costs/Looking for a Quote
How do I get an estimate for painting my home?
Experienced painting businesses will provide a free estimate for painting your residence. One significant difference you’ll notice is that a professional painting business will include information in your estimate that goes beyond just the paint brand—such as the particular system selected and the number of coats that will be applied. You can give us a call at 303-346-9151 or request a free in-home estimate here on our website.
How much does it cost to paint a house?
For labor and materials alone, professional painters charge anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 to paint the exterior of a 2,500-square-foot, two-story home. It varies between approximately $4,500 and $12,000 on average. We can guide you through the different variables that can influence price adjustments so you receive the best proposal possible.
How much does it cost to paint the exterior of a house?
Each state will have a different quote pricing. Painting contractors may base their initial quotes on the square footage of your house. At CertaPro Painters® of South Denver, we measure and count each surface in order to provide a very accurate quote. The expense of labor and materials in your area, the number of stories, and the home’s accessibility are other variables that affect pricing. Factors such as paint color, extra prep, and fading might affect how much something costs.
Reputation
How do I find a good house painter?
To find a reliable painter, make sure your expectations are clearly stated, get estimates from every company you are looking into, check reviews and references, and look into the guidelines of their warranties.
Should house painters have insurance?
Yes, all of our painters have insurance to cover any incidents that may occur while painting your home.
Colors
How do I choose paint colors for my house painting project?
CertaPro Painters® of South Denver offers free color consultations to each of our clients. When you schedule a color consultation with our design team, you can take the stress out of finding the perfect paint color for your interior or exterior spaces. If you are looking for a virtual color comparison option, we recommend checking out the CertaPro Painters® MyPaint Colors™ visualizer. This allows you to get an idea of how specific paint colors will look in your Southern Denver home.
What are the current popular colors for home exterior painting?
We always recommend Sherwin Williams, and some of their popular colors are: Chatroom, Balanced Beige, Worldly Gray, Jogging Path, Shoji White, Evergreen Fog, Alabaster, and Agreeable Gray. But these are always changing!
Painting Costs
How much will it cost to paint my home?
The price varies substantially based on a variety of variables, including your state and city, square footage, number of stories, paint quality and number of coats, same color or different color, the type of siding for exterior painting, trim, and the quantity of windows and doors.
How long will your paint job last?
Generally, an external paint job on a home will last between five and ten years, but there are many variables that affect how long it lasts. The length of time paint will last depends on the prep work completed before painting, along with the quality of paint the customer selects. The surface and climate have a big impact on how long paint lasts. For instance, paint may break down far more quickly under conditions like hail, snow, and direct sunlight. When the time comes to paint the outside of your house, you should work with a reputable painting business that employs high-quality materials because your house is one of your largest assets.
How do you know when it’s time to paint the outside of your home?
There are some apparent indications to look out for, such as cracking and chipping paint, but there are also some less evident issues that might cause problems. Exterior painting is a large undertaking, so it is usually advisable to work with experienced painters whenever possible.
How often do I need to paint my house?
Every home is unique, so there is no straightforward solution to this question. Most paint manufacturers recommend painting every seven to ten years. However, this depends on elements such as the environment in which you live and the quality of the prior paint job. Another consideration is the type of surface being painted or stained.
Is there a warranty for painting the interior/exterior of a house?
We always call to see if your house needs an inspection at 2 years. If your paint isn’t holding up after 2 years, don’t pay for an inflated extended warranty while you are already paying for our paint job. Choose a company that you can trust.
Will I save money if I buy the materials?
That is unlikely. In fact, we receive more savings than most large paint manufacturing employees. If you want the greatest materials at the lowest price, let us get them for you. If you have a specific budget in mind, we are pleased to discuss what paint/stain options are available to best suit your needs. We don’t try to force every customer to use the same paint because each job is unique and may require different supplies.
How much money do we need to put down for a paint job?
For residential projects under $4,000, we do not require a deposit or down payment. For projects costing more than $4,000, a 25% deposit is required. Commercial initiatives will be determined by the terms of the contract signed by all parties involved.
Are more expensive paints better?
More expensive paints might save you time and money while also providing a nicer finish. More expensive paints typically include more pigment and binders, resulting in more coverage with fewer coats. They can also have a thicker consistency, allowing for more coverage with fewer coats. Premium paints can also cover up the original wall color in fewer coats, saving time and work.
Does all of the existing old paint on my house need to be removed before it can be repainted?
No, not all of the previous paint should be removed. Before painting, we will make sure to remove any loose, peeling, or flaking paint. Areas that remain bare following this preparatory step will be primed before repainting.
Does my whole house need to be primed before being painted?
It is very uncommon. After power washing and manually scraping, all exposed areas must be primed. If the existing paint was in bad condition, a considerable area of a home may need to be primed. Spot priming is usually only required in locations where the existing paint warrants it.
What is elastomeric paint?
Elastomeric paint is a flexible, thick, high-build covering composed of acrylic resins, fillers, and pigments. It is applied in liquid form and hardens into a waterproof coating that can stretch and return to its original shape without damage. Elastomeric paint is intended to endure the strains of expansion and contraction produced by temperature and weather changes. It is frequently used on outdoor surfaces exposed to extreme weather conditions such as direct sunshine, strong rains, and high humidity.
How long does it take the new paint to dry?
Most latex paints set in 60-240 minutes, but they can take up to 30 days to fully cure. As a result, we recommend opening and closing newly painted windows and doors on a regular basis during this time to prevent them from sticking. CertaPro also advises against hanging objects on walls for 72 hours.
We received outstanding service from the initial quote to the color consultation to the painting job itself. Our painter was thorough and treated our property with care. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome!
