CertaPro Painters of Denver was selected to complete a multi-year exterior maintenance project for a large homeowners association involving four miles of split rail fencing. The project was divided into three phases over three years to align with the HOA’s maintenance schedule and budget.
The scope included power washing and applying a uniform finish coat of Woodluxe® Solid Stain by Benjamin Moore in ES-45 Natural Cedartone to the HOA-maintained side of the fencing. This product was chosen for its excellent durability, UV resistance, and ability to enhance the natural wood grain while providing long-lasting protection against the elements.
Challenges and Solutions
This project presented several logistical and technical challenges due to its scale and environment. With no onsite water access, the CertaPro team mobilized a water trailer to perform thorough power washing prior to staining, ensuring optimal adhesion and finish quality.
Because only the HOA-facing side of the fence was to be painted, crews had to work carefully along thousands of property lines. Protecting homeowner landscaping, shrubs, and outdoor property from overspray was a top priority. CertaPro implemented a systematic approach using physical barriers, drop cloths, and directional spraying techniques to achieve precise application and prevent overspray in sensitive areas.
