Our Lady of Grace Painting Project
In February 2026, CertaPro Painters® of Dayton, OH, located in Dayton, Ohio, the historic Our Lady of Grace Parish recently underwent a detailed interior restoration project designed to refresh and protect the building while preserving its historic character. Originally constructed in 1911, the church stands as a neighborhood landmark that reflects the craftsmanship and architectural style of early 20th century church construction.
The building features a traditional stucco exterior and distinctive interior stucco finishes, including textured plaster walls and exposed structural beams that give the space its classic architectural charm. Over time, however, the interior had begun to show its age. The ceilings and beams displayed signs of wear and past damage, while the stucco walls had faded and developed visible cracking.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The project focused on restoring and refreshing the interior surfaces of Our Lady of Grace Parish while preserving the historic character of the 1911 structure. Work began with thorough surface preparation throughout the interior, including cleaning, scraping, and repairing damaged areas on the ceilings, structural beams, and stucco walls. This preparation helped remove aged coatings and address cracking in the stucco surfaces to ensure proper adhesion for the new finish.
Following preparation, the team applied primer and fresh coatings to the ceilings, exposed beams, and interior stucco walls. These new coatings helped restore a clean, consistent appearance while protecting the historic surfaces and improving the overall brightness and uniformity of the space.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:
Because many of the ceilings and structural beams were located approximately 30 feet above the floor, the crew used ladders and walk boards to safely access elevated areas. This setup allowed the team to complete detailed preparation and painting work while maintaining safe working conditions throughout the project.
