Project Overview
CertaPro Painters® of Dayton, OH completed an interior restoration and painting project at Sawyer Gym, located within Sawyer Hall at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. This historic campus facility is primarily used for gymnastics programs and specialized recreational activities.
Prior to the project, the gymnasium showed significant signs of wear from years of use. Brick wall surfaces had widespread peeling and flaking paint, along with visible moisture-related damage and failing coatings.
The overall appearance of the space had become dull and worn. The goal of the project was to restore the appearance of the space, address deteriorating surfaces, and provide a durable coating system suitable for an active athletic environment.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The project involved extensive surface preparation, masonry repairs, and full interior painting of the brick walls. Preparation included removing failing paint, addressing damaged areas, and ensuring the substrate was stable and ready for new coatings.
Once properly prepared, a fresh, uniform coat of paint was applied to restore the appearance of the gymnasium while providing added protection against future wear.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT & TECHNIQUES:
Scaffolding was used to safely access elevated wall areas throughout the gymnasium, allowing for consistent preparation and paint application across all surfaces. The combination of proper surface prep and safe access ensured a high-quality, durable finish.
