This particular facility serves as a regional equipment rental center for contractors, businesses, and homeowners throughout the Dayton area. The company specializes in renting and selling construction equipment and tools ranging from forklifts and earthmoving equipment to specialty contractor tools and job-site equipment. They also provide delivery, pickup, and service support for customers working on construction and industrial projects.
The outdated color palette and aging paint made the building feel more like a forgotten warehouse than a modern equipment rental center. Updating the exterior was an opportunity to bring new life to the property, improve curb appeal, and create a more professional first impression for customers arriving to rent equipment or pick up tools for their job sites.
About the Project
What did the project involve?
Because the building sits directly next to US-35 in Dayton, the exterior metal siding had accumulated years of dirt, road grime, and chalking from constant exposure to traffic and the elements. Our first step was a thorough power washing to properly clean the surface and remove any contaminants that could affect paint adhesion.
Once the building was fully cleaned and prepped, we applied two coats of a highly durable exterior acrylic coating. This system will provide long-lasting protection against Ohio’s changing weather conditions while keeping the facility looking sharp and professional for years to come. This project took our team two weeks to complete.
Were there any special challenges involved?
One of the unique challenges of this project was the building’s location directly alongside US-35, one of Dayton’s busiest highways. The constant flow of traffic meant the building had accumulated years of road dust, exhaust residue, and airborne debris, which required extra attention during the cleaning process to ensure the new coatings would properly adhere.
Another challenge was coordinating the work around the customer’s daily operations. As an active equipment rental facility, there was constant movement of trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery throughout the yard. Our team worked carefully around their workflow to maintain safety while keeping the project on schedule and minimizing any disruption to their business.
Did the project require any special equipment or techniques?
Since this customer is also one of our preferred equipment vendors, they allowed us to utilize one of their boom lifts while on site. Having access to the proper equipment made a significant difference in the efficiency and safety of the project. It allowed our crew to reach all areas of the building quickly and complete the work smoothly while maintaining the high level of quality we expect on every project.
Any other information we need to know about the project?
The finished result was a dramatic improvement to the building’s overall curb appeal. The transformation was so successful that the customer asked us to complete the same work at another one of their locations in Northern Kentucky, which features a nearly identical building.
