Refined for the Home Team: Epoxy and Paint Refresh for the Dayton Dragons
In February 2025, the home locker room of the Dayton Dragons baseball team in Dayton, Ohio, underwent a focused three-day renovation to bring the space in line with the team’s branding and upgrade its durability.
This facility—used intensively by players and staff—had suffered visible wear over time, particularly on the floors, which were scuffed and deteriorated from constant foot traffic and cleats.
The outdated paint colors also no longer matched the team’s branding, creating an uninspiring and inconsistent aesthetic. The space was transformed with new paint, custom flake epoxy flooring, and professional-grade finishes.

The project involved a full-scale refinishing of the locker room interior. The crew painted the walls, trim, and stall dividers in new, team-appropriate colors to unify the space. The most significant upgrade was the application of a custom color flake epoxy coating to the floor, chosen for both durability and visual appeal.
Special Techniques:
Before work to the floor could be done, our team had to grind down multiple layers of old paint buildup using an electric concrete grinder—a critical step in ensuring the new epoxy adhered properly and looked professional. Color flake epoxy floors don’t just look sharp—they’re built to last. After the concrete is prepped, a colored epoxy base coat is applied. Then, colored flakes are scattered across the surface to give it texture, depth, and a custom look. Once everything sets, a clear topcoat is added to seal it all in. The result? A durable, non-slip floor that holds up under heavy traffic and looks great doing it.
The Results:
Despite the short three-day timeline, the project was completed efficiently and to a high standard. The newly updated locker room now reflects the team’s identity while providing a clean, durable, and professional-grade surface for players and staff.
