11 New Paint Colors You’d Never Use Until Now

Posted on June 27, 2019

Vibrant walls are making a comeback in a large way. No more beige walls and off-white trim. Bright blues, vivid violets, and ravishing reds are no longer relinquished to accent walls. Here are the trendiest 11 paint colors you’d never use for interior painting – until NOW!

Teal

Between blue and green, teal lives. It’s experiencing an upward swing in use compliments of a new pairing with tangerine. It’s a modern take on older colors, but mixing the two. Mix in some traditional furniture to create a playful take on old and new.

Red

Go with passion and fire! Reds have moved away from brothels and are now enjoying an eclectic and edgy feel. Using metallic to lighten up the vividness of the color avoids a dark room. Pair it with white or black to get a mod feel in your room.

Blush

Pink can go too far, but blush is a grown-up girl color. Get the feel of style and relaxed femininity with light pink in warm tones. Pair with gold or crystal for a great room any grown woman would love to get ready in.

Graphite

Are you more goth than girly? Show your deep and brooding side with graphite on the walls. The dark gray is a sidestep from black but just as easy to work with. Make sure the room has light furniture, wall art, and trim to avoid the cave-like feel. Pull it off and you’re room will feel like a stylish SoHo loft.

Emerald

No, no, no wizard around these parts. Bright emerald green works well with black or white. Avoid gold or your visitors will be looking for the Wicked Witch. Do it well, and your room will be timeless and perfect for your everyday needs.

Peach

Peach is back and not a moment too soon. Put peach on the walls and leave the big hair in the past. Mix the color with stark white or cream-colored elements and the outdated 80s color will feel brand new.

Black

Alright, you goth kids – black is back. The way to successfully paint your room black is to pair it with a brilliant white trim. Colors should be used in textiles and furniture to bring light into the room. If you’re looking for glam, try chandeliers, crystals, and silver.

Mint Green

It’s not an awful prom dress, mint green is back on walls again. Modern furniture paired with classic colors creates polished and put-together looks. Try mint under a chair rail, then match with a warm cream color on top. You’ll be surprised how much you love this look.

Navy

Navy is the neutral that’s not. It works as well as an off-white with so much more style. Make it a naval room, paired with red and white. Or match it with graphics and a comfy chair in light colors to set a new tone. No seamen allowed!

Apple

Crisp green apple is probably the least gathered paint swatch. The color provides and calm and cool room. While the color is bright for some, it can make an airy accent wall or room to set off any style.

White

Pure white is a shocking color, and shockingly underutilized. It makes a crisp-looking room that’s a perfect backdrop to any style or look. For many years, white has been passed over for off whites, beiges, and other neutrals. Give the original white a chance for your room.
