Iron Pony, Westerville - Ducati Service Bay Walls & Stencil Painting

PROJECT SCOPE:

The scope of work included painting the service bay walls and installing a newly designed Ducati stripe graphic using official brand colors.

Behr Premium Plus Ultra in an eggshell finish was selected for durability and cleanability in the service area. A custom Ducati White color formula was applied to the showroom walls, while Ducati Red was used for the stripe graphic.

The project required exact color matching and layout execution to meet Ducati’s branding requirements.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES:

To achieve the required level of accuracy, a custom stencil was fabricated by a professional sign company. This stencil allowed the crew to apply the dashed stripe elements with exact spacing, alignment, and height, ensuring consistency across both walls.

Combined with detailed surface preparation and controlled application techniques, the stencil system played a key role in delivering a crisp, professional, and brand-accurate finish.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:

Because the work took place inside an active service bay, surface preparation was a major consideration. The walls required extensive sanding, degreasing, and priming to ensure proper adhesion due to exposure to oils, residue, and heavy use. Another challenge involved transitioning from a previous large red stripe to a smaller, more refined brand graphic. To prevent color bleed-through, the team carefully color-blocked the existing red paint before applying the new Ducati White finish.

Precision was critical throughout the project. The stripe graphic had to meet strict guidelines for height, spacing, and dash alignment to remain consistent with Ducati brand standards. Careful layout planning and quality checks ensured the final result met those specifications exactly.
