Aviation Project in Columbus, Ohio
CertaPro Painters® of Columbus, OH was contacted by John Glenn International Airport to assist in painting the exterior of the Spirit Aeronautics hangar. The 12,000 square foot facility had extreme peeling down to the original metal substrate, creating a space for surface rust to thrive.
The paint itself, in addition to the peeling, was compromised in a number of ways. The coating had become chalky and the sheen and color of the exterior were failing. The only option for CertaPro’s professionals was a thorough repainting to create a brand new look and add long-lasting protection to the John Glenn building.
In April 2019, CertaPro Painters® scraped and sanded the exterior of the building before applying a special protective primer. Painting ensued after the team preparation ensured a smooth and uniform application would be the final result of the project. Below is a collection of images and video for a closer look of the team’s work.
Painting Of The Spirits Aeronautics Hangar
Before the project began, CertaPro Painters® surveyed the area and gathered images of the worn exterior.
Worn Hangar Exterior
The building at John Glenn suffered from an exterior paint job that needed to be completely replaced.
The color was no longer vibrant and lost the gloss due to years of exposure to the elements.
Large Failing Areas
The peeling and wear was present in large sections of the building that led to a complete repaint.
THE FINAL RESULT
After the hangar was refinished, CertaPro’s professionals took pictures to show the contrast between the new paint application and the previously blemished exterior.
The entirety of the structure at John Glenn International was repainted for a brand new look.
Color and Sheen Restoration
The appearance of the hangar received a massive facelift as the color and gloss was restored.
The new coat of paint adds long lasting protection against rust to the metal siding of the hangar.
Doors and Trim Makeover
The smaller sections of the building received the same attention to detail, providing uniform look to the facility.
