Exterior Painting Ideas for a Beautiful Outdoor Living Space

Posted on June 5, 2019

With better weather, you’re certainly spending more time outside. Give your outdoor areas, porches or patios some love to create an oasis for hosting parties and enjoying after dinner drinks. Here are some easy updates for your outdoor living space with paint.

Front Door

Create a new first impression for those visiting by creating a new look on the front door. Trend has shown that even homes that lean cautious on style can benefit from a vivid front door. Just because it’s bold, doesn’t mean it has to be bright. The most used tone this year is Peppercorn, a just shy of black hue. Also making the list are green, red, yellow and blue. You will need to use exterior paint and avoid glossy finishes that will enhance imperfections in the door.

Outdoor Furniture

Over a weekend, you can easily update old furniture or some you find from a garage sale. Make a matching set by sanding down any existing color and adding a new hue. For extra style points, choose a color that matches your current color scheme. You can also draw inspiration from the foliage around the house.

Porch Ceilings

Porch and patio ceilings do not have to be left unattended to. Bring the sunny skies inside with a light blue paint. If you aren’t feeling that adventurous, it’s easy to add a slight tint to nearly white colors. For the bold, go even brighter. There are loads of options for you to take any inspiration to the skies.

Highlight Outdoor Colors

There is color inspiration all over your yard to draw from. If you are at a loss for where to begin, look no further than what’s nearby. Pulling in a color from a flower or tree nearby will give you a good way to tie your whole look together. If you have a yard full of mixed color flowers, that’s a signal to go neutral. If it’s just greenery and shrubs, pick a complementary color.

Concrete Color

Floors are often left in their virgin state despite paint on every surface. Even if you are looking at a bare wood or concrete floor, take the time to sand it and put some paint or stain down. It will enhance the color on your floor and create a finished looking product.
