Baptist Church Interior Project
in Statesville, NC
Commercial Popcorn Ceiling Removal Project
Our painting team was tasked with a large-scale popcorn ceiling removal and repainting of a cathedral ceiling of a Baptist Church in Statesville, NC. The owner wanted to remove the popcorn ceiling texture to improve the look of the interior and give it a modern feel. It took us several days to properly scrap and remove the popcorn before skim coating, priming, and painting the surface.
Challenges and Conditions of the Project
Condition:
The popcorn ceiling was peeling in several spots in the sanctuary along with several dark spots and cracks.
Project Involvement:
We needed to scrape the popcorn ceiling, sand, skim coat, prime, and paint the sanctuary ceiling.
Special Challenges:
26-foot tall ceilings on a sloped room. We had to move pews, and cover the entire sanctuary in plastic. We had to set up scaffolding. The stage area required us to break down and rebuild the scaffolding on multiple levels of the stage floor.
Special Equipment:
Scaffolding —needed to reach the 26′ ceilings.
