George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TX

We all know the pain-points of air travel; security, regulations, hours of operation. Now imagine working within the airport. All of those things are amplified, and that’s what the professionals at CertaPro Painters of Central & Northeast Houston navigated during their May 2022 project at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

The Job:

CertaPro Painters of Central & Northeast Houston were contacted to paint two bridges in the International Terminal of the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The bridges were in really bad shape. They had rust all over, and the old paint was faded and beginning to peel.

The Work:

Before even beginning work on the bridges themselves, the first step for the experts at CertaPro Painters of Central & Northeast Houston was to clear security (each and every day of the project), making sure that each painter was complying with the safety and communication requirements of the airport. Once the team cleared security, they commenced the 10-day project with pressure washing and sanding the bridges. While working, the bridges were still operational, meaning the team had to work around aircrafts coming in from overseas, and adapt to the situation in order to avoid damaging any aircrafts and passengers.

Once the initial pressure washing and sanding was complete, the team began applying a top-of-the-line marine primer to each bridge, followed by two coats of industrial-grade paint from Sherwin Williams. The professionals utilized spraying techniques to avoid any overspray on the aircrafts, as well as scissor lifts to aid in reaching awkward and out-of-reach angles.

Final Result:

CertaPro Painters of Central & Northeast Houston completed the bridge project at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 10 days of starting the project in May, while the previous contractor completed the same scope of work in 6-7 weeks. The customers and City of Houston Inspectors were thrilled with the results of the dedication and effort put forth by the team, including complying with all safety and regulatory restrictions.
