General Questions

What types of preparation need to be done to my house?

• Remove small, fragile objects. (Pictures, Decorations, Glassware, etc) We will take care of everything else!

What is the purpose of primer and when it is needed?

• Primer is used for multiple things. Promoting adhesion, stain blocking and also helps with coverage. We will let you know if it is necessary.

How many coats of paint are appropriate for my project?

• Typically, two, unless a primer is needed. In some cases one coat can be used when going over the same color and sheen.

Is there anything I can do to increase the longevity of my new paint job?

• Always keep the area clean, and avoid touching the walls!

Will I save money if I buy the materials?

• In most cases, no. We will typically be able to get the best possible pricing on paint.

Are more expensive paints better?

• Yes. There is always a good, better and best when it comes to products.

How is the crew going to reach the difficult areas of my project?

• All of our crews are equipped with the necessary tools to complete the work. Ladders, scaffolding, etc.

Is there lead paint on my house, and if so, how is it handled?

• We have EPA certified crews and estimators to ensure all of the proper precautions are taken.

I’m not sure what colors I want to use. What help can CertaPro Painters give me?

• We offer a free, 1 hour color consult (if the customer wants) with our interior designer once the project is scheduled.

What if I am not happy with the colors once they are applied to the building?

• We ask that you are always 100% sure before picking your color. We can always re-paint, but will need to charge for the labor if so.

Are there extra charges if I have more colors on my house?

• Only if accent walls or multiple colors per room are chosen. This is for cleaning brushes, cut lines, etc.

Will CertaPro Painters leave me with touchup paint?

• Yes! We will always leave wall paint with our customers.

Insurance and Liability

A contractor comes to paint my house and his employee falls off a ladder and gets hurt. Who pays for his injuries?

• All of our painters have General Liability and Workers Comp!

The Process and Our People

I have just met with the estimator – now what?

• You should be receiving your estimate via Email within 12 hours or less!

I have reviewed the proposal and would like to proceed – what do I do next?

• Contact your estimator and he/she will direct you!

What experience and background do the foremen and painters have?

• All of our painters have 5-10+ years of professional experience

How do I address any concerns I may have throughout the project?

• Our job site supervisor and production manager will be on site throughout the project. You can always reach your estimator as well.

How long will the project take?

• All depends on the size of the job. Your estimator will give you a rough idea after the quote is built!

I plan on being out of town during the part or all of the project – is this okay?

• Always! We understand our customers have things to do. We are always kind and respectful of our customers belongings. 

What about inclement weather?

• Our scheduler will be in contact with you when bad weather is in the forecast about rescheduling.

How is payment handled?

• We take all forms or payment, which is typically handled by our scheduler or finance team in the office. 

Does the crew expect a tip at the end of the job?

• No, but tips are greatly appreciated. Or painters work extremely hard year round!

What if dry rot or other carpentry issues are discovered during the painting process?

• Speak with your estimator or project manager. It may be something we can fix!
