Interior Refresh for Mixed-Use Commercial Property

Scope of the Project:

This commercial painting project took place in Bloomington, Illinois during October and November of 2024. Although the work itself was completed in about a week, the overall schedule spanned two weeks to coordinate effectively with the client’s availability and minimize disruption. The scope of work included interior painting of walls, trim, and staircase spindles, as well as applying a durable floor coating in the building’s basement.

Challenges and Solutions:

The property presented a unique set of challenges, as it houses both residential apartments and active businesses. Careful planning and communication were essential to avoid disturbing residents and to ensure that business operations continued smoothly. To accommodate these needs, portions of the job—particularly the floor coating—were completed over a weekend to align with the schedules of the businesses operating in that area.

Additionally, the basement location of the floor work required the use of special equipment. Extension cords were needed to power the floor grinding tools, as the basement’s distance from accessible power sources called for extra reach and specific cord types. Despite the logistical hurdles, the project was completed efficiently and with minimal disruption, showcasing the team’s flexibility and professionalism.
