Exterior Painting Project in Sandwich, MA
The Problem to Be Solved:
Homeowners in Sandwich, MA hired us to update their exterior with a fresh, darker blue stain while preserving the condition of the existing trim. This home’s exterior clapboard siding was in generally good condition, but it showed typical signs of wear, including mildew, dirt buildup, and areas of flaking and peeling paint.
The Solution:
The project began with a soft wash of the exterior using 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner, an eco-friendly product that effectively removes mildew, mold, dirt, salt, and sand. Once the home had dried, we returned with moisture meters to confirm that the siding and trim measured below 16% moisture which is an important step to ensure proper adhesion.
We then scraped and sanded all areas with flaking or peeling paint. Bare wood was spot-primed, and we took extra care to cover and protect all trim, soffits, windows, and door frames with plastic as they were not being painted. Finally, we sprayed two coats of Sherwin-Williams Woodscapes Solid Stain onto the clapboards. The first coat soaked into the wood for a solid base, and the second added richness and long-lasting protection.
The Final Result:
In just three days, the home’s exterior was transformed with a bold, darker blue finish that elevated its curb appeal. The crisp contrast between the newly stained siding and the preserved trim created a clean, modern look. The homeowners were thrilled with the color choice and impressed by the attention to detail throughout the process.
