Residential Case Study
Exterior Painting Project in Dennis, MA
The Problem to Be Solved:
The homeowners of a Sea Street property in Dennis, MA needed a comprehensive exterior refresh. The home’s exterior showed areas of peeling and flaking paint, and there were concerns about underlying wood rot. While the overall condition was not severe, visible deterioration required attention before repainting. In addition, several sections—including trim, clapboards, doors, and deck railings—needed reliable restoration to protect the shoreline home from further damage.
Solution:
CertaPro Painters® of Cape Cod completed a full exterior washing, scraping, and sanding of the home to stabilize the existing surfaces. The team provided light carpentry, along with repainting of all clapboards, trim, deck railings, and doors. Because the existing finish was oil-based paint, the crew primed all clapboards prior to painting to ensure proper adhesion and a long-lasting finish.
Challenges:
Once work began, the carpentry needs proved to be more extensive than initially anticipated. Several oversized soffits required complete rebuilding, and the team had to dismantle the homeowner’s outdoor shower to access hidden areas needing repair—then reassemble it once the work was complete. The project demanded skills beyond standard light carpentry, so a painter with advanced carpentry experience was assigned to ensure the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of the final result.
Final Results:
Completed in October 2025 over a 12-day period, the project delivered a fully restored and freshly painted exterior with improved structural stability. The homeowner was highly satisfied with the workmanship, the attention to unexpected carpentry issues, and the quality of the final finish.
