Ceiling Painting Project in Falmouth, MA
The Problem to Be Solved:
A homeowner in Falmouth, MA needed ceiling repair, texture removal, and a full repainting of their ceiling connecting their kitchen, dining room, and family room. Another contractor had cut a 3×3 hole out of the ceiling to repair something and had placed a piece of drywall back, but had not prepared the surface for painting.
Challenges:
The project was focused on the ceiling, and the work area included the homeowner’s connected kitchen, dining room, and family room. Between furniture, countertops, fixtures, and carpets, there were multiple surfaces that had to be protected from plaster dust and potential paint drips. Removing the previous ceiling texture required skim coating, which typically releases excessive plaster dust.
Solution:
To prepare the work area, our team masked all surfaces with clean plastic sheeting, covering walls, floors, and counters, to prevent any dust buildup or paint drips. To remove the ceiling texture before painting, we used a Festool sander, which captures close to 98% of the plaster dust. After skim coating and preparing the 3×3 drywall section for painting, our team painted the ceiling for a smooth, seamless finish.
Final Results:
After 3 days, the ceiling had been repaired, smoothed, and painted for a like-new appearance. The work area was cleaned of any remaining plastic, dust, and tools.
