Commercial Case Study
Alarm New England
Project: Alarm New England came to us in October 2022 to paint the front siding of the building. It is a metal building, commonly known as a “butler building”. The wood trim had never been painted before and was rotted in some areas, which needed to be replaced. The building has metal siding, metal flashing along the roof line, and aluminum doors with wood trim around them. The metal siding was in fair shape. It had some rust spots, but no major areas of concern. The metal flashing along the roof line was also in great shape.
Process: Before we could begin painting, we had to wash the building while cleaning any rust. After wire brushing, any bare metal would need to be primed with a quality metal primer to protect the surface from any rusting in the future. The front of the building was the customer service area where any cars would be parked. These areas needed to be clear to be able to paint and we needed to work around any customers using the front door.
The metal flashing along the roof line was to be included in the painting project. The siding and the flashing would get two coats of Sherwin Williams Sher Cryl paint, a highly durable paint for metal products. The wood trim on the door frames was rotted, specifically on the left and right side. Those trim boards would need to be ripped out, replaced with wood trim and fully primed on all six sides. All of the other trim door frame boards would need to be primed as they were never painted before. After prime, the wood trim boards needed two full coats of Sherwin Williams Duration, a thick, quality paint for exterior wood projects.
Result: Overall, our team was able to complete the project in two days and Alarm New England was happy with the results.
